The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) was formed by the merger of Edinburgh University's School of Architecture and Edinburgh College of Art's School of Landscape Architecture. It's first intake of students took place in September 2009.
The merger of these two schools pre-empted and, in many ways, anticipated the full merger of Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) in August 2011.
From 2009 to 2011, the ESALA belonged to both the ECA and the School of Arts, Culture and Environment in Edinburgh University's College of Humanities and Social Science. Since August 2011 it has been part of an enlarged ECA within the College of Humanities and Social Science.
