The School of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine was founded in 2002 as part of a major restructuring of Edinburgh University. This saw the university's nine Faculties reconstituted as three Colleges, while Departments were reorganised and replaced by Schools. The new School of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences brings together subject areas previously covered by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
