The School of Biomedical Sciences in the [[College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine]] was founded in 2002 as part of a [[Reconstitution of Faculties into Colleges, 2002|major restructuring]] of Edinburgh University. This saw the the university's nine Faculties reconstituted as three Colleges, while Departments were reorganised and replaced by Schools.
