Noel James Entwhistle (1936- ) held the Bell Chair of Education at Edinburgh University from 1978 to 2003. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Institute for Education, Community and Society at Moray House School of Education.
Entwhistle succeeded Liam Hudson (1933-2005), having previously served as Director of the Centre for Educational Research and Development at the University of Lancaster. He was followed in the Chair by Robert Leslie Lingard (1948- ).
