In 1988 Mrs Fyfe (née Murray) donated to the Library the Coltness Papers. Her ancestors had inherited them on the death in 1839 of Sir James Steuart Denham of Coltness and Westshields (1744-1839) through the marriage of Alexander Murray of Cringletie in Peeblesshire to Marion Steuart, the General's aunt. The collection includes the manuscripts of the economist Sir James Steuart Denham (1712-1780) and earlier and contemporary members of the family ca 1623-1814.
