In 2002, Edinburgh University underwent a major structural change. Its nine Faculties were reconstituted as three Colleges, while Departments were reorganised and replaced by Schools. The College of Science and Engineering replaced the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It now consists of the following schools:

Some subject areas previously covered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering are now taught within the Schools of Clinical Sciences and of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.
