In 2002, Edinburgh University underwent major structural change. Its nine Faculties were reconstituted as three Colleges, while Departments were reorganised and replaced by Schools. The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine replaced the existing Faculties of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. It now consists of the following schools:
- Biomedical Sciences
 - Clinical Sciences
 - Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences
 - Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

The College also covers some subject areas (within the School of Biomedical Sciences) that were previously taught in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
