Robert Stewart (1675-1758) was appointed Regent of Philosophy at Edinburgh University on 20 October 1703. Following the abolition of the regenting system in 1708, he was appointed to the Chair of Natural Philosophy, remaining in post until 1708 when he was succeeded by his son John Stewart (1712-1759).
