Following university restructuring in 2002, the Faculty of Music became the Reid School of Music within the College of Humanities and Social Science.

In 2011, following the merger between Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art in 2011, the Reid School of Music became part of the newly reconstituted Edinburgh College of Art (again within the College of Humanities and Social Science).
