The Chair of Classics was created in 1987, as a successor to the previous Chairs in [[Greek]] and [[Humanity]]. At the same time, a newly created Department of Classics brought together the pre-existing Departments of Greek, Latin, and [[Classical Archeology]]. The Chair of Classics was created in 1987, as a successor to the previous Chairs in Greek and Humanity. At the same time, a newly created Department of Classics brought together the pre-existing Departments of Greek, Latin, and Classical Archeology. Since major restructuring of Edinburgh University in 2002, Classics has been part of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology in the College of Humanities and Social Science.
