Edinburgh University Library holds literary manuscripts, correspondence, and personal papers by some of the foremost Scottish writers of the 20th century. There are particularly important collections of materials by Hugh MacDiarmid (1892-1978), George Mackay Brown, Norman MacCaig, John Buchan (1875-1940), and Sydney Goodsir Smith (1915-1975).
