Robert Leslie Lingard (1948- ) held the Bell Chair of Education at Edinburgh University from 2006 to 2008.
Lingard succeeded Noel James Entwhistle (1936- ), having previously been Professor at the School of Education at Sheffield University. He resigned to take up a post at the University of Queensland and was followed in the Chair by Lani Florian (1955- ).
